Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint - 22.00
Mix 1 ½ parts warm water to 1 part milk paint powder (or 1 ¼ to 1 ratio with lighter colors.)  Paint may be mixed in a blender (used strictly for paint) or in a container with a stir stick.  If using a blender, pour water in first and then add the powder.  For hand mixing, measure the powder first and then add water.  Mix for 3-5 minutes until water is absorbed into the powder and the mixture is relatively smooth.  Water to powder ratio may be adjusted to achieve desired consistency.  Only mix the amount needed for the project.  Excess can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 5-7 days.  Stir before use.  If the full quart is needed, mix 2 ½ cups of water with entire bag of milk paint powder.
With a quality brush, apply 1-2 coats of milk paint, stirring occasionally.  Allow 30-60 minutes between coats.  Finish with Miss Mustard Seed’s Furniture Wax or Hemp Oil Wood Finish.
If you haven’t used milk paint before, we strongly suggest watching our video tutorials on mixing, applying, distressing, and getting the look you want from our milk paint.

Color Choices:

Milk Paint Bonding Agent - 12.00
This Milk Paint Bonding Agent allows Milk Paint to adhere to metal, glass and painted, varnished or lacquered surfaces.  This bonding agent is a water-based concentrated acrylic emulsion.
How to use this product:
Shake well before using.  For optimum adhesion, clean the surface to be painted with T.S.P. and sand lightly to roughen the surface.  Always test adhesion before applying to a large area.
To use with Milk Paint:  For the first coat, mix one part of bonding agent to two parts of milk paint already mixed.  For an even strong grip, mix in equal parts.  There is no need to add bonding agent to the second coat of Milk Paint.
To use as a primer for water-based paints: Apply a thin layer of bonding agent with a paint brush or roller.  Let dry for 2 hours before applying paint.
This product contains no solvents of VOC and is almost odorless.  Clean brushes and tools with warm, soapy water.  Protect from freezing.

Antiquing Wax - 13.00
This fine museum quality wax is based on an old family recipe.  It is made from beeswax with a little carnauba wax and is then lightly tinted to a rich brown, perfect for creating an authentically aged finish on a piece of painted furniture.  It is easy to apply, provides a durable finish with a beautiful luster and has almost no odor.
How to use this product: Use a clean cotton cloth or brush to apply wax in a thin layer, working into recesses of carved details or surface imperfections.  Wipe away excess.  Allow it to dry for 3-5 minutes.  Buff to a shine with a clean lint-free cotton cloth.  This product may be applied directly over dry milk paint or clear wax.  Clean brush with soap and warm water.

Crackle Medium - 9.00
This crackle medium is an eco-friendly, natural food grade product that creates beautiful cracks with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint or latex paints.
To use this product: Mix equal parts warm water to crackle and stir.  Allow mixture to sit for 10-15 minutes until powder is absorbed into water.  Stir to break up any lumps.  Apply crackle with a brush before the final coat of paint.  Allow crackle to dry until it’s tacky before applying final coat of paint. Only mix what will be used for the project.  Excess can be stored for 3-5 days in an airtight container at room temperature.

Hemp Oil - 12.00
This solvent-free oil finish provides a protective, water-resistant surface.  Use on new wood that is bare, stained Milk-painted or to revive old wood finishes.  It penetrates to protect from the inside out.  Does not leave a surface film that will chip or scratch.  This food-safe oil finish is perfect for use in the kitchen on wood or stone.  Used outside, it can restore the luster of old oil based paint or revitalize surfaces such as cast iron.  Test on an inconspicuous spot prior to using on an entire piece.
How to use this product:
Surface must be clean and dry.  Apply small amount of oil to surface using a clean cloth.  Rub gently until it is absorbed into raw wood or Milk Paint finish.  For additional sheen and protection, add 2-4 coats.  With no solvents, drying time is extended, so allow 2 hours between coats and wipe away excess after 12 hours.  Finished piece may take several days to cure.  To maintain, apply a light coat every other year as needed.  To remove scratches, lightly sand blemish, then reapply oil.
Covers approximately 25-40 sq. feet.  Soap and water cleanup.
