The Best of 2012 Furniture Revivals
A Revival Review

Putting together this Southern Revivals Best of 2012 Furniture Revivals really put things into perspective for me. Like first of all, where does a year go anymore?? You blink and you might just miss it! And second, it's hard for me to believe Southern Revivals isn't even a year old yet. While some of my posts date back to 2011 I technically didn't start my business until April of 2012. All posts prior to that were originally posted on my personal blog well before I started Southern Revivals.

I am amazed at how much has been accomplished in such a short time especially since most of it was totally unplanned and certainly unexpected. I feel very blessed and grateful and not a day goes by that I don't feel like pinching myself just to make sure this is all real.

So, here's the best of 2012 as determined by your visits to my blog and here's to an even better 2013 for each and every one of us! Cheers!

A Full Room Furniture Revival

And it all started here! Just remember, if you want to start a new business, corner the least likely member of your family to say 'No' and ask them to be your guinea pig. See more pics of the process and get the whole scoop here.

Pottery Barn Inspired Dresser Revival

And when I posted this gem little did I know that you guys would like it so much you'd pin it to Pinterest a whopping 35,656 times!! Get the deets on my Pottery Barn inspired dresser revival right, here!

From Vintage to Modern - Horchow Inspired Revival

This is one of my personal favorites! While it was gorgeous to start with, in my opinion, sometimes we appreciate something a little more modern. And that's exactly what this Horchow inspried revival was all about. See the transformation here.

The Teal Twins ~ End tables Revival

Talk about a fan favorite! I'm afraid you guys are going to egg my house if I don't tell you EXACTLY how I did this! Right. Now. Well, I just might. {You'll want to be subscribed to my Southern Revivals YouTube Channel to find out!} Until then, check out the Twins' Revival, here.

1970's French Provencal Dresser Becomes A Buffet

This one I wanted to keep for myself! It comes complete with monogrammed pulls!! See the awesome transformation that surprised even me, right here.

Uncle Joe's 1800's Dresser

I love the story behind this piece! I'll give you a hint, it involves the King of England! Read all about it and see how much work was involved in this antique revival, here.

A China Hutch Revival

This is one of those transformations that sits with you for a while. I loved it before, during and after I finished it but ever since it's gone on to it's new home I have to walk by the perfect spot for it in mine. Then of course I'm reminded that nothing so lovely will ever come along again. Ok. Maybe that's not quite true but I still wish I had kept it! You know how you find the perfect piece in the store but decide to wait on getting it only to go back and find it's not there. You get that sinking feeling and then you long for it for like, ever. See why, here.

Just Another Pottery Barn Inspired Dresser Revival

And this one I did keep! It's sitting in my entryway as I type. You'll never guess what I store in there. Find out here!

Vintage Chest of Drawers Revival

One of my most recent revivals. I'm in love with how it turned out - even though I had to practically rebuild it. I'm looking for another one like it to do for my son's room. Can you guess what the top is made from? Find out here.

And there you have it! Southern Revivals Best of 2012. I have some great new things planned for the new year. Exciting things happening, too. I can't wait for 2013. But I'm curious, if you could choose, what would you like to see from Southern Revivals in 2013?

Happy New Year!

My Holiday Open House Party

On Saturday I held a Holiday Open House for the grand opening of my booth at a local store here in Statesboro, GA - The Vintage Connection.

The unveiling of my booth was a big deal for me. It was my break from the cyber virtual world of the computer and a real life meet and great of those who enjoy my work.

Each of my guests were each given one of these . The mugs were provided by Hometalk, an online community of bloggers and professionals as well as everyday folk who enjoy all things home. A great place to get and share ideas and advice. I put a goodie bag into each mug and tied it up with pretty twine.

And you can't call it a holiday party without a dessert bar!

This beautiful glass cake dome is from Wayfair.com - one of my new favorite obsessions places to shop online. I have my eye on some new curtains!

Those chocolate covered pastry puffs are filled with Bavarian cream - because that's how I party!!

My booth space is filled with things I love like this Lourve post card depicting antique French furniture.

And this one with a horse painting replica. I wish I had paid attention to who the artist was. I am really digging all things farm animal these days!

These are a throwback to my folk art days. I sculpted these a while back and thought I'd place them in the booth to make things festive and also remind me of how I got to here.

Several friends dropped by for support. Sadly I didn't get pictures of them all.

We had some fun playing with paint and eating cream puffs.

It was a great day and a perfect open house. I hope these guys had as much fun as I did!!

Hometalk and Wayfair partnered with some bloggers to celebrate the season with these beautiful cloches, like you see here in my post. Thanks to Wayfair for providing my cloche. I wasn’t compensated to write this post about my party.

Adding Color to Your Decor
Life of Pi Collection from World Market

Recently I had the pleasure of shopping the Life of Pi Collection from World Market which includes home decor, Indian Inspired foods and spices plus clothing and jewelry.

Life of Pi is the story of an Indian boy named Pi, a zookeeper’s son, who survives a disaster at sea and is thrown into an epic journey. While adrift in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with another a fearsome Bengal tiger
The movie opened in theaters November 21, 2012. You can watch the trailer for Life of Pi here: http://www.lifeofpimovie.com/#!/watch-trailer

The best part is, it's rated PG so it would make for the perfect movie night getaway this holiday season!

I love adding color in my home through decor and these Indian inspired pieces from World Market do just that.

I was torn between the tall chest and this small chunky one. In the end I went with the tall one, only because it had more color.

I could not pass up these rugs. I love the colors and they have the look and feel of rugs that are much more expensive.

By the time I got home with my haul it already felt like Christmas to me. Look at this reusable gift bag!

I sort of stepped outside of the box and placed the rug on the top of my entry table as a runner. It's fun to use ordinary things in unexpected ways.

I love the extra pops of color these pieces add to my entry way. That, and when people come to visit, my home has the look of someone who is well-traveled. And some day, I will be!

And speaking of well-traveled...how would you like a dream trip to India for 2?!

  • Grand Prize package includes: a dream trip for 2 to India and a $1,000 World Market Gift card. There will also be 3 runner up prize winners that will each receive a $500 World Market gift card!
  • The Life of Pi Sweepstakes runs from 11/17 - 12/28.
  • If you share the sweepstakes with 5 of your friends (via FB share or email) you can receive 5 additional bonus entries. You can enter to win daily!

If you win, you could take me with you!

For more inspiration you can find World Market on GOOGLE+, TWITTER, PINTEREST and INSTAGRAM.
